Father's Day means so much to so many people - to everyone in fact.
{by far one of my favorite pictures of me & my dad}
I am lucky. I am lucky for 2 reasons - one because my dad is THEE bomb. I am not just saying that because he is my dad - I am saying that because he is an amazing man. Not only is he an amazing father but an awesome husband to my mom & that my friends can be rare. AND two - I am lucky I found an amazing man, Chris, to raise my kids.
Growing up I always thought my dad was like the coolest dad - he always tried to keep up with the times & be "hip". Being a little kid I knew my dad would be there to play with me whenever I wanted & mostly because I was the only kid in their lives for 9 years. I remember I always wanted my dad to play barbies with me & then my mom play match box cars with me - clearly that never went over too well.
I also remember my dad building dune buggies - one of my favorite memories. We would head north to Michigan to the sand dunes & ride around in the sand ... We would race & we would lose & we would speed to the top of the hills & get stuck .. Those thoughts make me giggle.
Then I turned 16 & he took me to get my belly button pierced ----- say whaaa? I would kill Chris if he took Hadley to get that done :) I was on top of the world though .. I didn't need to "hide" getting it pierced because my dad TOOK me. I remember going home all smiling & my mom was like what are you 2 up to .. Haha oh man I probably would have kicked him in the shins at that point if that was Chris.
My dad has been there every flipping step of the way of my life. To move my ass 324325 different times throughout college & to load up all my stuff and to send me to California to be with Chris. What a man.
Now - I see him as a Grandpa - wow kind of brings tears to my eyes so I will now be moving on.
{with all his "kids"}
I love you daddy!!
-------------------------
On to the other man in my life - my husband to be. He is probably the best dad out there. Watching him with Hadley & Henry - play, discipline, tickle, rough house - whatever it is, it just makes me smile. Smile because I wouldn't want any other man to be my baby daddy. :)
{pure joy running on the beach with our daughter}
{and then being his silly self with our son}
He does things with the kids that I do not - I try to avoid at all possible costs to NOT go in public with the 2 of them, but him - he does it all the time. More power to you man. On his days off he takes the kids swimming at a former coworkers house - those are memories the kids will remember for sure. Daddy takes me to the pool mommy. Yeah yeah yeah but I kiss your boo-boos. ;)
Last year I gave him a son for Father's Day - I am not quite sure I can beat that one this year. BROWNIES it is!
-------------------------
I am so thankful for my parents for NOT being able to have kids at that time in their lives & opening up their hearts to adopt me because there is not one other family that I would want to raise me .. And I am also so thankful for the crazy life that I led that put me right back in the arms of the man I am marrying but we just took the plunge of the kids & house first ;) I love you both so much!
