She's cooler than a older sister

'Oy mates! My mums blog has been taken over by another pretty mama today so I just wanted you to see my presh face & let it be known I am now a big boy. Adios!

Please note that my son speaks Australian - German - Spanish - AND English in the above 2 sentences.

So - I am kind of excited to introduce you guys to Michelle. When she submitted her guest post to me, I giggled out loud. You know LOL'd!! I didn't even realize she was a bit older than me but she makes some valid points about the blogisphere - but if you ask me she fits riiiiight in.

Plus I wouldn't mind spending a Friday night at her house in my pjs sippin' on some appletinis {we all know this girl loves tinis}.

Enjoy her, go check her out. I promise you won't be disappointed & you'll be her favorite for the day .. Well after she gets back from New York you'll be her favorite ;)

Hello Blabbering Thoughts fans!  I'm really excited to be Tiffany's guest today.
I'm Michelle and I just started a little blog called You're my favorite today.

It's a place for me to unload some of my inner dialogue that drives my family crazy (especially when it becomes outer, which is often), share the things and events that make me smile, comment on random and regular and ridiculous things that go on (or have gone on) in my life, be snarky about celebrities - really, just whatever happens to be my favorite today.

As I've been learning about blogging the past couple of months by reading and studying and reading and examining and reading countless blog posts, I've discovered that there are a lot of bloggers out there who are in their mid to late 20's, either engaged or newly married with unbelievably gorgeous and artsy black and white wedding photos and sweet love/engagement stories who are decorating cute new apartments and go out with friends to fun urban bars, OR new mamas who are exhausted and exhilarated and post adorable baby photos, OR gorgeous 20-somethings who post photos of different outfits they wear and tell me where I, too, can purchase size 2 yellow skinny jeans.

For the sake of full disclosure (and so this post might make a little more sense) I think I should let you know that this is my first guest post - ever -, and that while I am probably not quite old enough to be the mother to most of you reading this, I was probably busy curling my bangs, swooning over Andrew McCarthy and listening to Duran Duran when you were born (but I like to think of myself as your cool older sister, just so ya know).

But even though you may have been in playing with play-doh when I was pumping a keg at a fraternity party, and you may have a dog that is terrified of thunder and keeps you up at night instead of an 11 year-old daughter who does the same, our lives (and our blogs) are more alike than you'd think.

For example:

YOU: You may go out to a fun, new, hip urban club on a Friday night with your cool/scruffy fiancĂ©e/husband and have a few drinks wearing funky heels and a messy bun and a colorful scarf thrown around your neck in a perfectly sloppy but polished way and post cool instagram photos on facebook/twitter/blog.

ME: Husband (also scruffy but in an "I don't care to take the time to make sure my whiskers aren't so long that food won't get caught in them" kind of way) and I also will be having drinks on Friday - usually in our basement, on the couch, in sweats or pjs, face washed, (totally different kind of) messy bun, watching t.v. We sometimes often do make Appletinis, though, because we like to feel fancy.

Difference - you won't ever - ever - see photos of that (although it would be hilarious and now I might be reconsidering...)
YOU: You have a silly and spirited and lovable dog who aggravates you/amazes you/exhausts you/thrills you with her antics every day.

ME:  I have a 16 year-old and an 11 year-old daughter who do the same.
Difference - mine don't (usually) have accidents on the floor anymore.
YOU: You go to work every day to a job that aggravates you/amazes you/exhausts you and then come home and try to find time for yourself...and your blog.

ME: Being a personal assistant to Husband, the 16 and 11 year old as well as a maid, cook, vet, and chauffeur is not a lot different in the aggravate/amaze/exhausts you department. Except now I know they'll still grow if they only eat peanut butter and cheese 5 days in a row so I clock-out early more and more often to work on the blog.

Difference - I get to sleep with the boss (or is it the other way around??)

See? Despite our age difference we can still hang out together!
So drop by...meet the fam...become a new follower...share a favorite.
I'm always happy when you do.

...and thank you, Tiffany, for giving an "old lady" a break!
You're my favorite today!
