How to stay crazy about your mate

You know - I am no expert, that's for sure. I am not even married yet.

But I have sat front row & watched a relationship crumble. And I have also sat front row & watch a relationship grow.

Today is 723.
If you know me, you know 723 is a HUGE part of my life. It always has been. It's like a lucky number to me, my favorite number, a number I see EVERYWHERE. It all started with my grandparents - it was their address & since then I swear I see it at least 2 times a day. It can be eerie at time.

So Chris & I wanted to incorporate it into our wedding date. We are getting married January 23, 2013. So we got the 23 part down but that's about it :) But our "half" anniversary is July 23 - 723 :) I think that incorporates it pretty well!

Chris & I live together - most couples before hand may have not lived with each other for many reasons. For us - it has helped us. We also had kids before hand - so that was kind of a given we'd be living together :)

I've read random things on how to keep that spark in your relationship & honestly it's all common sense. You have to WORK for it. It's not handed to you - nothing is perfect. It's like a never ending battle, but a good battle.

When you have kids it's really hard to spend time with each other - just you 2 alone. And when you don't have any family close it's even harder. But we make it work. We also have a love with social media (me) & him technology in general. Sometimes we may sit in bed together completely indulged in something else but other times it literally is just him & I. We're not perfect.

This past weekend both kids sucked at taking naps one day so we got to enjoy the evening. They both were in bed by 630pm - he grilled steaks & corn on the cob. We had a glass of wine. Together, at the dinner time, in peace. It was awesome.

We also keep a journal - he thinks I suck at keeping it because it takes me a month or two... To write back :) Yeah yeah yeah - my thought process is if I wrote every week it wouldn't be "fun" anymore.

I am not quite sure what random acts I do for him but he loves to bring me flowers, whether it be at work or at home. Secretly I think he likes the flowers at the house so that's why he gets them for "me" ;) Just kidding baby!

I'm not perfect - I have a rocky history but I don't live in my past I live now. I learn from my mistakes & move on. You have no idea how excited I am to spend forever with this man.

That's so sweet! My husband buys me flowers every Friday. I think it's for the same reason you think your hubs does it. They like fresh flowers in the house! LOL! Whatever...I'll take them anyway I can get them! ;)

Such an awesome post! I really want to try the journal idea with my husband; it seems like we hardly have time for 'us' since our son was born so I think that would so great. Thank you for the follow! Definitely following back! Have a great week!

We also had our daughter and lived together before we were married. I think for us it has been a blessing. We have gone through SO much together and grown up as a team as well. We also struggle with quality time. We recently moved to FL and the only family we have here is his mom and step dad..which is great because they are the people Addie has been closest to growing up. But they are busy, and that leaves minimal time for just US...we will sit next to eachother in the living room and be on our respective laptops not saying much...but we are enjoying the silence together. I think if you can appreciate the quiet with someone, and not have to fill the void with meaningless jabber, you are actually better off. its just an opinion. I am all for "laptop cuddling" haha Best wishes to you! :)

Wonderful post and so true!! As a fairly new follower, it was nice to get to know a little more about you and husband to be! And you're spot on about marriage. It takes a lot of work, which is something that Hubby and I took a few years to figure out. But we've finally gotten it, and I treasure the little things and the moments we have to spend together! :) Happy 723! :)
